“The loss of a loved one is never easy, no matter if it is a peaceful death, one brought about by terminal illness, a sudden accident, or in senseless murder. We are left to wonder ‘why’. Indeed, ‘Why’ leads to many questions. Why did this have to happen, why not me instead of them, why should I continue on any longer…
When I lost my family, I wondered ‘why’. Why would a loving creator take away the family that I held so dear to me. I couldn’t find hope in those moments. Not when I watched my father fall to his death, my wife and daughter drown, or my son die from eating poisoned fruit. Hope seemed so far away with each successive death, yet it felt… close. Still, I continued on, knowing that if I gave up all hope completely, their losses would be in vain.
After becoming a Blue Lantern, it all became clear to me. I took heart knowing that I would see them all again in the next life, whenever and wherever that may be. I draw inspiration from the time I had with them. Knowing we will all be reunited someday gives me the hope to continue in the face of adversity, or in seemingly hopeless situations. It’s what drives me to to spread the Blue Light throughout the galaxy.
And for those who may not have a belief in a higher power or an afterlife, I say draw inspiration from the time you’ve spent with your loved one. Remember the good times, the love they had for you, and the strength they had during their own darkest nights. It’s in those moments, that hope always burns the brightest.”
Suddenly, a new influx of followers. =O Welcome!
For those new to ‘Ask Saint Walker’, the only thing I would like to stress is that it takes place _primarily_ within comic continuity… though I play fast and loose with it very frequently, so it doesn’t take place in mainline and I tend to be carte blanche with some details, hehe.
That said, if you’ve found this after seeing him on GL:TAS, I will say that you don’t necessarily need to be familiar with the comics in order to enjoy this, though you might be a little confused when non-animated characters like Miri Riam, Sister Sercy (and all the other Blue Lanterns), Kyle Rayner, Arkillo, etc. show up. ^^; (Oh, and Larfleeze too, but he’ll be showing up in GLTAS next season)
Updates are infrequent; this is for a variety of reasons. But, I’ll try my best to post as many as I’m able to.
Thank you again for all the likes/reblogs/follows, everyone! Maybe I’ll do something special when I reach 200. =>

“To answer your question, you could say I am. Where exactly, well… now that’s getting quite personal!”
“Ah. This is a tricky question, indeed. While I’m not a Star Sapphire (although my good friend, Miri, is. She briefly deputized me as a way to find a suitable answer for this question. That was… interesting), I will say this:
Hope will only become delusion if you hinge your expectations on what could be considered selfish desires at the expense of another individual. This is especially true in matters of relationships. Love, especially.
Might I suggest you instead place your hopes in the well-being of your crush. And, perhaps this is the remnants of my Deputization influencing me here, that the ‘right person’ may enter into your life soon?”
metaraymek:
Hooooooly… look at all those Blue Lanterns! (from here)
The fact that most of them are probably going to get whacked just makes me heartsick. But! Now that there’s more Blue Lanterns, I can cull from them for ‘Ask Saint Walker’.
Canon? What’s canon? ;]
OOC: I’m not going to make a habit of doing this, but I figured some of ASW’s followers would be interested in this!
And for what it’s worth, some of these new Blue Lanterns will more than likely appear in future answers, regardless of what happens in the upcoming ‘Battle for Odym’/’Fall of the Blue Lanterns’ arc in ‘New Guardians’.
“We have had discussions about changing the oath before, or at least amending the rules set by Brother Ganthet and Sister Sayd to allow for personal oaths if the bearer so decides.
We eventually agreed that it was in the best interest of the Corps, to continue using our original oath, as altering it would prove too confusing for new initiates, like Brother Sepdifer’s recruit, for example.
(And, you are quite welcome, and thank you for continuing to hope!)”
[[ooc: the slyggian Blue Lantern is one of my fan characters]]
“Lantern Gardner is an… intense person, unlike any human I’ve met so far. I’m sure he means well, but what little, direct interaction we’ve had has been quite interesting, and admittedly, uneasy. I’ve been told by Lantern Rayner that ‘opposites attract’ -is that how the Earth saying goes?-, but all things in due time.”
((OOC: Ohhhh, fudge. I forgot Guy’s ring. D= Uhh, just assume it slipped under his glove!))
“I suppose there are times where I do entertain the idea of suggesting he consider our Corps. But, he seems happier as a Green Lantern, and I respect that.”
